What is Over Striding? Distance Running vs Sprint Technique


I’m often asked about the concept of over striding. Simply put, this can be broadly described as being when a runner strikes the ground too far ahead of their body, effectively applying the brakes with each stride.

While common advice is to try to ‘land under your hips’, how realistic is this cue for distance runners?
