Marathon Coaching
Whether you’ve just entered your 1st marathon, or are preparing for you 50th, working with an expert coach can be the difference between achieving your goals and disappointment.
Not only will our marathon coaching provide you with the ideal training schedule for your personal needs, professional advice and guidance on issues such as nutrition, technique, and injury prevention, but we also enable you to maintain motivation and accountability for your marathon training.
With many years of experience in marathon racing and endurance sports coaching, our specialist coaches provide you with the bespoke guidance and tools to be the best you can be.
Some coaches like to give their athletes huge mileage, others like to work on technique or speed. We simply give athletes the program that is right for their individual needs. Some athletes want to completely immerse themselves in marathon training, while others want some form of balance – that’s their choice; We will simply work with their lifestyle demands to make them the best they can be.

How Our Coaching Works:
Initial Consultation:
Via telephone or Skype conversations and e-mail, we need to identify how best we can help you. We will send you a document and questionnaire so as to better understand your training history, work and family commitments, injuries, equipment, access to facilities and so on.
During this process we may require you to do a series of tests/time trials to help us set your training zones and heart rate thresholds.
Follow Up Consultation:
Following the initial consultation and completion of the forms, we have a discussion about the information gathered and to plan the months ahead.
The best way for you to get the most out of your program is to be completely honest with your coach. Likewise we need to get to know you as an athlete. You will receive a bespoke periodised program for training and races incorporating season objectives, long and short term goals.
Goal Specific, Individually Developed Training Program:
You will receive your training schedule in 2-4 week blocks via email.
Generally we find 2-3 weeks to provide the dynamic adjustment needed for each athlete. This will include a detailed daily program including target intensity and duration.
Ongoing Training Program Adjustments:
You and your coach will communicate as much or as little as appropriate making adjustments to your program as needed.
Communication:
You have unlimited e-mail contact to monitor progress and answer questions. If you need to talk daily then that’s what we do. Once you are up and running then we probably need to talk for 15 to 20 minutes every other week about your training. This can be by phone or Skype. As we progress we can extend the periodicity to suit the athlete. To start with though this needs to be the absolute minimum.
Fees:
Coaching fees are payable in advance of receiving your program, with the agreed minimum coaching period being 3 months.
The price is £100 per month – a little over the equivalent of buying one broadsheet newspaper a day.
No start-up fee. We believe new athletes should not pay a start up fee for initial assessment – so we waver this.
Your Commitment:
Your commitment is to be honest with us and yourself, to be committed to the programme and to try to enjoy the process or at the least the outcomes.
